Hey, just wanted to ask if it was possible to open up avatars to URLs in the internet. I've found that some things aren't possible simply downloading images on the computer and uploading them, and the Gravatar is nice, but not what I'm personally looking for. I would just like to see why that's not an option, and if it's possible to implement it into the forum. Thanks!
Note that when you upload an image as an avatar to the site or to Gravatar, it forces you to crop the image into a square. The system strictly prohibits avatars that are not square-shaped. Imagine seeing white space around smooshed, non-square avatars. It just doesn't look appealing. As a result, off-site avatar linkage isn't allowed because of the risk that the image might not be square, which is a hip thing to be.
